How to Find a Great Attorney Every Time

We had a number of calls to the showing inquiring about how to create an estate plan, find the right attorney, etc. (This was really a show about annuities and estates!)

Finding a great attorney isn’t tough. Simply call your local bar association and ask for the person who heads up the committee. For example, if you’re interested in finding a great estate attorney, ask for the head of the “estate committee.” If you want a litigator, ask for the head of the “litigation committee.” If you want a real estate attorney …. well, you get the idea.

The people who head up these committees are usually very engaged in the most current information because they’re in charge of setting up events for other lawyers who specialize in that area. So, the head of the real estate committee would arrange for speakers each month on real estate law and other changes that would be of importance to real estate attorneys. They also tend to be very well connected (Bar Associations can be quite political!) and know a lot of other attorneys who specialize in that area of practice.

They’re also used to referring clients to other attorneys. For all these reasons, the head of the committee can help you find the attorney who has the expertise to help you – or who will fit into your budget.
