While it’s debatable whose job it is to teach people how to manage their money – parents, schools, financial institutions, the government – apparently, the federal government has decided to jump in.
MyMoney.gov is a Web site devoted to personal finance. The nice thing is that the site offers resources to help you figure out what’s a scam. And it lists organizations you can contact if you’ve been a victim.
It’s a clearinghouse that will take you to other government Web sites from the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and others. It’s a good place to start if you’re not sure who can help you or if you want to get a good financial overview.
